QLIA Board Requests Grant Extension for 2026 Treatment
The Board recently requested an extension and amendment to our existing Surface Water Grant for Teal and Lost Land Lakes. The grant was originally approved for $99,000, and our request reflects updated project needs for treating Steamboat Bay in Lost Land Lake that we feel is important to lake management efforts in the short-term. We anticipate exceeding the original budget due to expanded monitoring, additional coordination support from our consultant, and planned 2026 treatment costs for Steamboat Bay in Lost Land Lake (approximately 10 acres)—estimated at $14,914. Dues and Tier Donation 2026 Incentives
The QLIA Board has put together a few incentives for 2026 to encourage dues payments and tiered donations.
Members who pay their $50 annual dues will receive a Quiet Lakes scratch paper pad.
Donors who contribute a 2026 tier donation of $250 – $999 will receive a blue flag pennant and a tier donations of $1,000+ will receive a gold flag/pennant to fly on your flagpole, boat, or mount inside or outside, recognizing your dedication to supporting our 2026 fundraising efforts.
Upon receipt of dues and/or tier donations we will coordinate pick up and delivery of these items and will have them available at the Annual Meeting 7/11/26 and Picnic 8/9/26.
Board Reviews Lake Consultancy Services Options
The Quiet Lakes Improvement Association has requested proposals from qualified lake consultants to support our ongoing work as proactive stewards of the Quiet Lakes, including Ghost, Teal and Lost Land Lakes, and the Teal River. These services will help us apply best management practices, protect water quality, maintain our shorelines, enhance our fishery, and guide future lake management planning. The selected consultant will also assist with evaluating and managing lake-related grants in coordination with the Wisconsin DNR.
The Board will review proposals in early February, meet with prospective consultants in late February, and anticipates making a final decision in mid-March. We will keep the community informed as the process moves forward.
